Why Hire a Private IBCLC?

baby breastfeeding

What is an IBCLC?

An IBCLC is the only internationally recognized professional breastfeeding qualification. It is awarded by The International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). Before sitting for the IBCLC exam, candidates must demonstrate extensive clinical experience (1000 hours) and advanced lactation education (at least 90 hours). An IBCLC must abide by Professional Standards and recertify every 5 years to ensure they are up to date. We use evidence-based information and evaluation skills to address breastfeeding issues including complex situations, high-risk babies, oral assessment and more. This credential is the highest standard currently available.

Why Hire an IBCLC?

Breastfeeding is very rewarding and can form a strong bond between you and your baby. The first few weeks are crucial in helping determine your breastfeeding future. This is also an extremely exhausting and overwhelming time. Having 6 kids myself I know that it is not easy to bring home a new baby. Each of your children will breast feed differently. Sometimes you and your baby will take to the new experience with no issues, concerns or complication. However, this is not always the case. Most mom and baby dyads need to learn to work together to benefit both of them.

Can an IBCLC help with other issues?

Yes! We check for tongue/lip ties, motor oral coordination, assist with relactation or supply increase, help with pump schedules and flange sizes, check bottle feeding skills of infant who are both breast and bottle fed and so much more!
